MGS is a membership organisation which operates to provide its members with information and advice on topics of historical interest related to family history in the old county of Montgomeryshire and its five historical bordering counties.

In order to be able to operate, it is in the legitimate interest of the Society to collect the following information from our members:

• Name;
• Contact details - address and e-mail (where applicable) - in order to enable you to be contacted and to send you copies of our publication Record, and other communications;
• Specific areas of genealogical interest – We publish details of your interests in order to encourage members to assist each other in their research.

This information is published in our journal and so placed in the public domain.

The information is stored by us and processed as circumstances require. We do not share it with third parties.

To request to see the information we hold on you, please contact our membership secretary.

If you have a concern about the way we handle your information, please contact the membership secretary and inform us of it. We will do our best to satisfy your concerns, within the parameters of the operation of the Society.
